The advancement in the video games graphics is so much that, some scientists started to believe in the theory of simulation. According to the Simulation Theory, we human being and other living beings are just simulated characters only as characters in high-end video games like The Sims and Grand Theft Auto. As a teenager, my birthday present was always a new handheld console, which kept me entertained for hours. Recently, I read that the Internet Archive has added handheld console games to its vast range of browser emulators. I was keen to try it, surprised at how well it worked and very nostalgic playing some of the titles I remember spending hours over back in the day.
In case you don’t know, The Internet Archive, a non-profit organization, is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Recently, The Internet Archive has unveiled its Handheld History Collection, which features nearly 70 emulated handheld titles. The initial lineup includes Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Tron, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Mortal Kombat, and even a handheld Batman game.
Go to the Internet Archive’s Retro Handheld Games Collection to see the titles on offer, click to play the one you want in your browser, then click the Power button to load the game. You’ll see the keys you need to use as controls below the title. Once I got the hang of a few games, three hours passed before I’d even noticed. According to the Internet Archive, More Retro games are said to be in the works. Moreover, to me, it looks like this gaming era won’t be forgotten after all. If you want to feel like reliving your childhood, head over to the Handheld History Collection over on the Internet Archive and Play Retro Handheld Games.
